Grand Pleasure
Mykonos
In Mykonos, you may find yourself hyperaware and enthralled by sensations that would typically evoke only momentary notice. This is the magic of "the rocky island," where the energy feels almost divine. From the moment your plane lands, the unique atmosphere welcomes you, setting the stage for the exhilarating cosmopolitan experience that awaits.
The electric ecstasy you feel amidst the island’s abundant beauty is akin to the awe inspired by extraordinary scenery. Here, scents, tastes, sounds, and physical sensations become more vivid and intense than in everyday life. This creates the perfect backdrop for immersing yourself in Mykonos’ jet-set world-class nightlife, where you can dance all night long, savour superb dishes from top-notch Greek, Mediterranean and international cuisine, and explore nearby islands such as Delos, Paros, and Tinos.
Admire the graceful sprawl of white-washed Cycladic-style cube houses and the spectacular coves embraced by crystal-clear turquoise waters. Mykonos offers a sensory feast that leaves an indelible mark on your soul.
After sailing for almost two decades through the essence of life, in 2001, I harboured in the most promising country: Ellada (Greece). My first encounter with Greek delights—including their renowned hospitality, special care for daily pleasures, and orgasmic yet healthy gastronomy—was on the island of Sappho, Lesvos. In 2007, I received a crucial ticket to the "rocky island," Mykonos, where I anchored for an unforgettable 15 years.
A place where everyone is welcome, Mykonos boasts some of the most celebrated nightlife in Europe, featuring prominent clubs and beach bar-restaurants. This destination is synonymous with glamour, celebrities, parties, oversized yachts, luxury hotels, secluded villas, and private jets or helicopters for tailor-made island hopping. One of the most requested experiences is the one-hour flight from Mykonos to Santorini, offering stunning views of the magnificent Caldera, volcanic landscape, and the fairy tale towns perched on the hills, such as Fira, Oia, Imerovigli in Firostefani.
You might also consider sailing to the nearby island of Tinos, with a swim and lunch stop at the charming Thalassaki Tavern in Ysternia Bay, where time seems to stand still. Another great option is a daily escape to Paros, the new rising jet-set tourism target, enjoying lunch by the water at Siparos Tavern and then heading for a swim in Antiparos. A winning proposal could also be a visit to Delos, the sacred birthplace of Artemis and Apollo and a UNESCO World Heritage site, with a swim at the nearby island of Rhenia. In this scenario, you can savour a lunch prepared by the Head Chef and his assistant, accompanied by a carefully chosen wine pairing, or whatever you believe would be your best choice.
By the end of the day, the extravagance continues with a catwalk through the main town of Mykonos (Chora). This proper labyrinthine maze reveals something interesting around every corner: unique galleries, high-end boutiques, delightful cocktail bars, and outrageously delicious restaurants. The iconic windmills provide a favorite sunset and photo spot.
Last but not least, a visit to Little Venice is a must. Whether you’re enjoying a coffee or a long drink, the experience will become a cherished memory. The idea of roaring waves at your feet or beneath the balcony where you’re dancing the night away under the stars is simply magnificent.
